   Wayne Simmonds looks to pick up some additional key situation time with  the departure of  Scott Hartnell.  Last year Wayne led the Flyers in goals with 29, and power play goals (15).  He also scored 4 game winning goals.

   Scott Laughton should make the team and become the Flyers forth line center and log a ton of time against the oppostions best players and kill penalties.

   Jakub Voracek was second on the team with points, and first with plus/minus last season.
Claude Giroux will miss a couple of weeks with the lower body injury, but have more than enough time to be ready for the opening game.

Flyers ready to open with 2 pre-season games on Monday.
Steve Mason will enter the season as the #1 goalie and get the Flyers off to a great start.
   Sean Couturier looks to step into a more offensive role with the advent of Scott Laughton making the Flyers roster.
      The Flyers will play a couple of split squad games on Monday, one in Philly, the other in London, Ontario where the will play the Maple Leafs and act as the home team.

   May 7th - Ron Hextall replaces Paul Holmgren as GM.  Holmgren will now serve as the teams president.

   8/26 -  Phantoms sign Ron Hextall's son, Brett,  to a one year contract.
   Aug. 29th - The Flyers decide to do away with the ice girls and their skimpy outfits.  Will change the ice girls to the ice team.  
   July 1st: Flyers re-sign Ray Emery to a 1 year deal.  Signed Rob Zepp (goaltender) to 1yr $600,000 contract.  Signed Center Blair Jones to 1 yr contract.   Released:  Adam Hall (signed with European team on 8/5),  Steve Downie (signed by Penguins), Hal Gill, and the oft injured Marc Andre Bourdon.
    5/16 - Erik Gustafsson signs with a team in the KHL.
   6/13 - Flyers re-sign Kimmo Timonen to 1 year contract.
   6/23 - Flyers re-sign Brayden Schenn to 2 year contract.  Flyers trade Scott Hartnell to Blue Jackets for RJ Umberger and 4th round draft pick.
    7/2 - Flyers re-sign Jason Akeson to a 1 year contract.  Sign Nick Schultz (D), Zach Stortini (RW), Andrew Gordon (RW), 
   7/4 - Flyers resign Chris VandeVelde to a 1 year deal.
8/5 - Flyers sign Michael Del Zotto (D) to fill the void of Kimmo Timonen's career threatening injury.
   8/7 - Flyers sign Ryan White to a 1 year contract.
   8/27 - Flyers re-sign Defensemen Brandon Manning
   9/2 - Flyers sign Zac Rinaldo  to a 2 year contract extension.
   8/5 - Kimmo Timonen treated in hospital for blood clot in right leg and both lungs making his return to the Flyers for one more year uncertain.  He will be sidelined for at least months, but his career may be at end.
   6/30- The Flyers announce a partnership with the ECHL's Reading Royals signing a 2 year agreement.  The Royals had won the ECHL's Championship this past season, The Kelly Cup.  The Royals had been partnered with the Capitals/ Bears in the last couple of years, and have played in Reading  since 2000-01 season.  The Flyers had been using the Greenville Road Runners as their  ECHL team last year.
   9/17 - Flyers and Phantoms will open the PPL center to hockey in Allentown with an exhibition game on Sept. 27th.
   Mark Streit looks to be the primary quarterback on the power play, and will get a healthy dose of minutes with the absence of Kimmo Timonen.
   Vinny Lecavalier will need to pick it up as a team leader on the ice to stay out of Coach Berube's doghouse.
